Roshibina Devi's Dominant Performance Marks India's First Wushu Medal at Hangzhou

At the Hangzhou Asian Games, Roshibina Devi delivered a dominant 5-0 victory against China's Chu Man Xin in the women's 60kg wushu quarter‑final, ensuring India's first guaranteed wushu medal at the current edition.

Having previously bested Bangladesh's Shikha Khatun in the pre‑quarter‑final, Roshibina's win adds a third Asian Games medal to her collection, complementing a silver from the 2022 sanda 60kg event and a bronze from the 2018 Jakarta Games.

The Indian contingent also saw Aryan move into his quarter‑final after a 2-0 triumph over Afghanistan's Saffi Shahzada in the men's 56kg division. In the women's events, Hanjabam Langlentombi Devi placed ninth in the nanquan and nandao finals with a score of 18.839, while Nyeman Wangsu finished 15th in the women's changquan final.

Suraj Singh Mayanglambam, competing in men's changquan, narrowly missed a podium finish, ending 11th with 9.683 points, just 0.040 points shy of a medal. These results collectively signal a rising tide for Indian wushu athletes on the Asian stage.
