Rs 36,441 crore Allocated to Boost Sports in Kerala through Khelo India 2026‑31

The central government has earmarked a historic Rs 36,441 crore for the Khelo India initiative for the 2026‑31 period. This infusion is expected to accelerate the development of sports infrastructure, organize more competitions and leagues, and enhance the Fit India movement across Kerala.

Under the new budget, each district will receive support to set up additional Khelo India Centres, widening the reach of training facilities. The scheme also pledges to expand the pool of athletes receiving stipends, covering essentials like food, lodging, equipment and academic support.
