Following India’s 31-run defeat to England in the 1st Test at Leeds, cricket analyst Sanjay Manjrekar expressed disappointment in Ravindra Jadeja’s tactical awareness on Day 5. Manjrekar, speaking on Match Centre Live, highlighted Jadeja’s failure to capitalize on the rough areas of the pitch, a crucial element for spinners on the final day. Jadeja managed only one wicket across both innings, conceding 172 runs in 47 overs. Manjrekar suggested that more was expected of Jadeja, given his experience. He felt Jadeja didn’t exploit the conditions against batsmen like Ben Duckett sufficiently and only adjusted his strategy later in the innings.
