The Buchi Babu tournament 2025 has commenced. Organized by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, the tournament is taking place from August 18th to September 9th. Sixteen teams are participating, divided into four groups of four. In a match between TNCA XI and Mumbai at the Guru Nanak College B Ground, India’s star batsman, Sarfaraz Khan, grabbed attention with a stunning century on the first day.
Sarfaraz Khan achieved this century while batting at number 5. Mumbai had lost three wickets for 98 runs when he came to the crease. Khan then took charge, steering the team’s innings and scoring a blazing century. He reached the 100-run mark in just 92 balls, including nine fours and three sixes. This innings is particularly significant for Khan, as he was recently excluded from the Indian Test team for the England tour.
Sarfaraz Khan has also been in the news regarding his fitness lately. After not being selected for Team India, he worked extensively on his fitness. In just about one and a half months, he surprised everyone by losing approximately 17 kilograms. This match marks his first appearance after the weight loss, and he has managed to make a mark in this match as well. Khan now has his sights set on securing a spot in the upcoming Test series against the West Indies.
Sarfaraz Khan’s younger brother, Musheer Khan, is also part of the Mumbai team in this tournament. However, he couldn’t perform well in the initial innings. Musheer Khan scored only 30 runs off 75 balls in the first innings of this match. He got a good start but couldn’t convert it into a big score.
