After four seasons at the forefront of Dutch cricket, Scott Edwards announced his resignation as captain, citing a desire to focus on his role as a wicket‑keeper batter. The decision paves the way for all‑rounder Bas de Leede to become the next Netherlands skipper. During Edwards’ captaincy the side played 56 ODIs, winning 24, and recorded historic victories over South Africa and Bangladesh in the 2023 ODI World Cup. In the T20 format he led the team in 50 matches, reaching the Super‑12 stage of the 2022 T20 World Cup with wins against South Africa and Zimbabwe.
