Selection Process and Training Camp Details for India's World Junior Team
The junior selection committee of the Badminton Association of India conducted its trials according to the BAI’s prescribed guidelines at the National Centre of Excellence in Guwahati. Over four days, from 18 September to 21 September, aspiring players competed for places in the 18‑strong squad bound for the BWF World Junior Championships 2026.
The trials emphasized technical proficiency, consistency and mental resilience. After the assessments, the committee announced the final roster, featuring Asian Under‑17 champion Tanvi Patra, continental silver‑medallist Shayna Manimuthu and Grand Prix winner Dev Ruparel as the leading figures.
To prepare for Cairo, the athletes will join a specialist world junior camp from 25 September through 2 October. The camp will include conditioning sessions, strategy workshops and simulated matches under the new 3‑x‑55 relay scoring system planned for the Suhandinata Cup.
The Indian team’s schedule also incorporates the Suhandinata Cup team event (5‑10 October) and the individual ‘I Level Cup’ (11‑17 October), which will follow a 3‑x‑15 scoring format. Detailed line‑ups for singles, doubles and mixed categories have been released, positioning India to compete strongly across all events.
