Shital Devi’s 704 Score Marks Historic Asian Compound Record
Shital Devi’s 704‑point effort in the women’s compound ranking round at Oka’s Chuo Sogo Park has rewritten the record books. The score not only surpassed China’s previous Asian best of 1,382 points set at the 2023 Hangzhou Games but also matched the standing world record for the mixed team event.
The Indian archer’s performance placed her at the top of the qualification leaderboard, ahead of Singapore’s Noor Saida Alim (683) and China’s Jueqing Ju (680). Her partner, Toman Kumar, contributed a strong 698 points in the men’s ranking, securing the mixed team total of 1,402 points.
This new total eclipsed the 1,400‑point world record established earlier by Shital and Rakesh Kumar in Ahmedabad. With this momentum, the duo is expected to be among the leading contenders for gold in the final rounds.
Shital’s resume already features a gold medal from the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Para Games women's compound individual event and a bronze from the Paris 2024 Paralympics, confirming her rapid ascent in international para‑archery.
