Shreyas Iyer, recently appointed captain for India A in a series against Australia A, faced a disappointing performance in the Duleep Trophy 2025 semifinal. Despite being seen as a key player for a return to the Indian Test team, Iyer’s batting struggles persisted. He was dismissed for just 12 runs off 14 balls in the second innings, following a first-innings score of 25. West Zone, for whom Iyer was playing, missed out on reaching the final. The team’s batting lineup faltered in both innings of the match. While Ruturaj Gaikwad scored a notable century in the first innings, Iyer failed to make an impact. Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal contributed a half-century in the second innings, but other batsmen could not follow suit. The match concluded in a draw as Central Zone secured a spot in the final, where they will compete against South Zone.
