Silver in Singles, Bronze in Doubles: Nourjahan Jamani Shines in Finland

At the ITTF World Para Future Lahi 2026 in Finland, Indian para‑table tennis athlete Nourjahan Jamani emerged as a double‑medalist. Competing in Class 7, she earned silver in the singles bracket and bronze in the standing doubles alongside Shivam Pal.

Jamani opened the singles draw with a 0‑3 defeat to Germany’s Birgit Bomgarten but quickly turned the tide, dispatching Iceland’s Agnes Lovisa Johannesdottir 3‑0. The decisive showdown against Macau’s Yu Choi Hong stretched to five games, with Jamani clinching the final two 13‑11, 13‑11 to lock in silver.

In the doubles, the Indian pair started strongly, beating Finland’s Aro Toivo Makela and Lovisa 3‑0. Though they lost both matches against Polish pairings, consistent performances across the tournament secured a bronze medal.

The dual podium finishes propelled Jamani up eight ranking spots, moving from 27th to 19th globally. The achievement adds to her recent national successes, including retaining the UTT Para Senior National Championship in Indore.

Jamani, who battled polio as a child and rejoined competitive play in 2022, thanked the Adani Sportsline “Garv Hai” program for its comprehensive support, ranging from training logistics to international competition facilitation.
