Silver Success: Himanshu Dhillon’s Asian Games Shooting Triumph

Himanshu Dhillon delivered a standout performance at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, earning the silver medal in the men's 10 metre air rifle event with 252.4 points. The gold went to China's reigning Olympic champion Sheng Lihao, who set a new Games record of 254.2 points. India's Rudransh Patel rounded out the podium with a bronze medal.

Dhillon described the medal as a moment of immense pride, marking his first senior medal on the international stage.

He attributed his success to a strong support network: his parents, coach Pooja Ghatakar, and sports psychologist Shivam Dvivedi. "My coach kept me focused and my psychologist helped me stay calm under pressure," he explained.

The shooter also cited Olympic champion Abhinav Bindra as his primary role model in shooting, while turning to cricket superstar Virat Kohli for broader inspiration.

After the competition, Dhillon spoke with his mother, who was overjoyed, while his father was overseas on a business trip, delaying their conversation.

The silver medal adds a significant accolade to Dhillon’s growing résumé and underscores India's rising prominence in the shooting discipline.
