Sivach’s Gold Boosts India’s Medal Tally in Glasgow Boxing Events

Sanjin Sivach’s gold medal in the 60 kg division lifted India’s overall boxing medal count at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. The Indian squad captured eight boxing medals on Saturday – six gold and two silver – with Sivach joining teammates Arundhati, Priya, Sakshi, Preeti and Jasmine on the top podium.

Silver medals were added by Lovlina and Jadhumani Singh, rounding out a successful campaign. The boxing success, combined with a 1‑2 finish in the men’s shot put (F57) and a bronze in judo, pushed India to fourth place in the overall medal table with a total of 35 medals.

India now boasts 11 gold, 16 silver and eight bronze medals, and hopes for additional boxing golds as ten Indian pugilists have qualified for the finals.
