Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina has expressed high praise for Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a young Indian batter, predicting a bright future following his impressive performance in the IPL 2025. Suryavanshi, only 14 years old, gained significant attention even before the tournament began, being picked by Rajasthan Royals for INR 1.1 crore. Suryavanshi’s performance lived up to the hype, amassing 252 runs in just seven matches, establishing himself as a standout player. A highlight of his debut season was his remarkable innings against Gujarat Titans, where he scored 101 runs off just 38 balls. This accomplishment not only made him the youngest male player to achieve a T20 century but also the second-fastest century in IPL history, with the milestone reached in a mere 35 deliveries. Raina highlighted Suryavanshi’s unique, fearless approach, emphasizing the rarity of such talent. He noted Suryavanshi’s century in England and IPL century as proof of his potential, using a local saying to illustrate the player’s impactful presence. Raina also mentioned a coach from Bihar who had mentored Suryavanshi, further underscoring the belief that Suryavanshi is a once-in-a-century talent, comparable to players like Rishabh Pant and Rinku Singh. He also acknowledged the impressive debut of Ayush Mhatre for CSK at the age of 17.
