Former Afghanistan coach Trott takes charge of England Lions for Caribbean, SA, Sri Lanka tour

Jonathan Trott, the ex‑Afghanistan head coach, has been appointed by the ECB as the head coach of the England Lions for their forthcoming overseas assignments in the Caribbean, South Africa and Sri Lanka. During his tenure with Afghanistan (2022‑2026), Trott oversaw a historic run to the T20 World Cup semi‑finals. He previously worked with England’s senior squad as an assistant coach and was the interim Lions coach when they swept a T20 series 2‑0 over Sri Lanka. The move comes after Andrew Flintoff resigned in August to take a BBL coaching role.
