Sehwag, in a conversation, remembered the frustration he experienced after losses to Pakistan during his playing days. He revealed that defeats against Pakistan would deeply unsettle him.
Sehwag’s aggressive batting style made him a formidable opponent against Pakistan. Across all formats, he played 42 matches against them, scoring at an impressive average. However, India didn’t always secure victories. Sehwag admitted that each loss left a lasting impact.
One of the memorable moments of Sehwag’s career was during India’s 2008 tour of Pakistan in Karachi. Chasing a challenging target, Sehwag delivered a stunning performance, scoring 119 runs off just 95 balls. He hit 12 fours and 5 sixes, leading India to a six-wicket victory with plenty of balls to spare. Adding to the legend, he was fasting that day.
India and Pakistan are placed together in Group A of the Asia Cup 2025, along with UAE and Oman. India’s campaign will start on September 10 against UAE, followed by the Pakistan match on September 14.
