Amidst a family emergency, Team India coach Gautam Gambhir had to return to India, prompting the BCCI to seek interim coaching assistance. VVS Laxman, already in England as the head of the Centre of Excellence and also serving as the head coach for the Indian Under-19 team, has stepped in to oversee the team’s preparations. The team is currently engaged in a practice match against Gill and India A. Laxman’s prior experience as interim head coach and his familiarity with the players make him a natural choice during Gambhir’s absence. Gambhir is expected to rejoin the team by June 20th for the first Test match of the series against England.
