India has announced its team for the Asia Cup 2025, and the squad does not include the talented batsman Shreyas Iyer. This omission has surprised many fans, who expected Iyer to be included. However, according to an Asian Cricket Council (ACC) rule, there’s still a possibility of Iyer joining the Indian team. This rule could also open doors for players like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mohammed Siraj, who were also initially excluded.
According to ACC rules, Iyer could be included in the Indian team if a player gets injured or if the team management decides to replace a player. It’s not mandatory to choose replacements from the standby players. This means players outside the standby list can also be selected. Therefore, if any Indian player gets injured before or during the Asia Cup 2025, Iyer could make a comeback to the team.
