The controversial statements of Yograj Singh, father of former Team India star all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, continue. Often targeting figures like former captains MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev, Yograj has now attacked Virat Kohli. In an interview, former Indian fast bowler Yograj discussed his son Yuvraj’s friendships, claiming that everyone was afraid of him because of his talent. He went on to label Kohli, Dhoni, and all of Yuvraj’s teammates as backstabbers.
During an interview on a YouTube channel, Yograj Singh was asked if Virat Kohli could have done anything for Yuvraj as captain. After Dhoni, when Kohli became the captain of the ODI and T20 teams in 2017, Yuvraj only got a few opportunities and was dropped from the team after the Champions Trophy that same year. This happened at a time when there was talk of a deep friendship between Yuvraj and Kohli.
However, Yograj believes that Kohli was not a friend of his son. In the interview, the former Indian pacer, when asked about the friendship between Yuvraj and Kohli and the tensions within it, said, “There are no friends on the ladder of success; you are alone. In this life where there is money and success, there are no friends. I told this to Yuvraj. Give me one friend.”
Yograj mentioned that in all the years Yuvraj played for the Indian team, he had only one friend, and that was Sachin Tendulkar. Yuvraj’s father said, “The only friend Yuvraj has, who also likes him, is the greatest player and a great person, Sachin Tendulkar, who considered Yuvraj as his brother. He is the only person who wants to see everyone succeed.”
Accusing everyone of betrayal while claiming that they were afraid of Yuvraj Singh’s talent, Yograj further stated, “There are no friends on the ladder of success, money, and fame. There are always backstabbers. There are always people who want to put you down. Everyone was afraid of Yuvraj because he might take my seat because he was such a great player, whom God had made. He was one of the great players, and everyone was afraid of him, including Dhoni and all the other players.”
