Chhattisgarh continues its excellent performance in the 36th National Game. The team of Chhattisgarh has won 11 medals including 2 gold in the match so far. Continuing its fine performance, the softball men’s team of the state today defeated last time winners Maharashtra team by 9-0 to enter the final. The softball men’s team of Chhattisgarh is on top by beating all the teams in its pool. The final match will be played tomorrow. Today the first match of the softball men’s team took place with Chandigarh. Initially, Chandigarh tried to fight, but the Chandigarh batter succumbed to strong pitching by Manas Kesarwani and Deepak Kanwar. In the batting of Chhattisgarh team, Saurav Yadav and V Mohan Rao scored 2 home runs by hitting outside the boundary. Aryan Tamrakar and Sonu Gupta batted vigorously and Chhattisgarh won the match after beating Chandigarh 8-0 in one sided. After this, the Chhattisgarh softball men’s team met with the last time’s winner team Maharashtra. Chhattisgarh’s team made a strong start from the first inning to beat Maharashtra 7-0. Aryan Tamrakar of Chhattisgarh scored a home run due to which Nikhil Nayak, Sonu Gupta and Aryan Tamrakar combined to make 3 runs. V Mohanrao, Manas Kesarwani, Kishan Mahanad, and Sunil Raj then scored a run each as Chhattisgarh went 7-0 up in the first innings. In the second inning, Maharashtra fought hard and did not give Chhattisgarh a chance to score runs. Chhattisgarh was ahead 7-0 in the second inning as well. In the third inning, Aryan Tamrakar again hit a home run and V Mohan Rao ran for a run. Thus Chhattisgarh went ahead 9-0 in the third inning. Again both the teams could not score any runs in the fourth inning and the match ended at 9-0. Thus Chhattisgarh softball men’s team has reached the final. The match of Chhattisgarh in the final will be played tomorrow with the team winning the match between Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. On the other hand, the softball women’s team of Chhattisgarh has competed against Delhi and Punjab today. In the first match, Delhi did not give Chhattisgarh a chance to score a single run till 5 innings, but the team of Chhattisgarh also performed excellent fielding and pitching. Barkha Yadav, Anju Tandi, Kavita Sinha, Ganga Sona and Janki Sahu took seemingly impossible catches, due to which Delhi could not score any runs till 5 innings. After this the try breaker round was played. In the sixth inning, Delhi loaded their three bases, and the match reached an exciting stage. Due to the strong pitching of Anju Tandi in the match, the Delhi team was once again out for zero. The match was getting more and more exciting as the match progressed. After this Delhi also dismissed Chhattisgarh for zero. In the seventh inning, Delhi scored 2 runs against Chhattisgarh. But Chhattisgarh’s Batter Sonali Sau, Barkha Yadav, Kavita Sinha and Janki Sahu’s strong batting and Aruna Punem, Kavita Sinha and Janki Sahu’s performances added 3 runs to Chhattisgarh’s account. Thus Chhattisgarh team became the pool topper by defeating Delhi by 3-2 runs. After this the Chhattisgarh women’s softball team had a match with Punjab, but the Chhattisgarh women’s softball team was left behind 7-0 from Punjab. The softball women’s team of Chhattisgarh remains in the competition for being the topper of the pool. Tomorrow, the match of Chhattisgarh women’s team will be with Kerala once again.
