To ensure the quality of products manufactured under the brand ‘Chhattisgarh Herbals’, 05 quality testing laboratories have been set up in the state. In these laboratories established at the forest circle level in Raipur, Ambikapur, Jagdalpur, Kanker and Bilaspur, certificates regarding the quality of the products will be issued primarily after testing. With this, the sale of products of Chhattisgarh Herbals will get a further boost in the country and outside the country. The work of operation of these laboratories will be done by Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Association. Lab Analyst has been appointed for testing in the lab. Specialists have also been appointed for this at the headquarters level. According to the prescribed protocol, 65 minor forest produce and 59 medicinal, 46 edible, 07 cosmetic and 22 other products will be tested in the laboratory. In this, the products of all the district unions and Van Dhan Vikas Kendras falling under the respective circle will be tested. It was launched by Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel recently in a program organized under the chairmanship of Forest Minister Mr. Mohammad Akbar. It is worth noting that 8 thousand 11 self-help group members are working in the processing of minor forest produce in the state. Products worth Rs 6 crore 38 lakh were sold in the year 2021-22. Continuous efforts are being made to sell the products made by them in the country and outside the country. For marketing of these products it is necessary that their quality and components are periodically tested in recognized laboratories. Chhattisgarh does not have enough laboratories for testing minor forest produce, herbal products and herbal medicines, keeping this in mind these laboratories have been established.
