Amit Pandey, Dongargarh. On one hand, the government is spending crores on campaigns like ‘Wildlife Conservation’ and ‘Swachh Bharat’, while the negligence of Dongargarh Municipality is openly showing these schemes. The garbage is being openly installed on the banks of the forest from the Saraswati Shishu Mandir in the city, that too is not a common garbage, but polythene, membrane, medical waste and other dangerous waste. The Manikanchan center is only made of the name and the garbage of the entire city is being brought behind it and dumping it without any proper arrangement, due to which the garbage of Dongargarh city has spread for several kilometers in the forest.
Cow-buffalo during the day and wildlife in the night are ‘victims of garbage’
As soon as the day climbs, there is a crowd of stray cattle on these garbage piles, so at night, many wild animals consider these poisonous waste as food. Gradually, this garbage is eating their body from inside, but it neither makes a difference to the municipality nor the forest department but due to the negligence of these two departments, the environment is definitely being ruined.
SDO of forest department missing, municipality unaware!
Many times this serious issue was brought to the notice of the officials concerned by the wildlife lovers, but the situation remains the same. Purnima Rajput, SDO of the forest department, is often not present in his office and if someone calls, he also remains ‘unheard’. The same attitude is also with the municipal CMO Chandrakant Sharma. Recently, the local people protested due to dumping garbage in Muktidham of this area, but the CMO of the municipality will not even get juice. The situation till date is the opposite, now the situation is getting worse. Millions of rupees are being spent every year in the name of Swachh Bharat Mission, but its effect is not seen in the files but in the files. Along with Muktidham in ward number one and three of the city, the scene outside the city, it is not less than a gas chamber, this dirt spread around the forest is not only wildlife, not only wildlife, but the whole ecology is endangered.
While on one hand the government talks about saving green forests from every platform, its representatives have quietly become a partner in this ‘environmental murder’. The question is, is there anyone to take care of the environment in Dongargarh?
SDM Manoj Markam assured action
However, Dongargarh SDM Manoj Markam has assured to take action soon, showing seriousness on this whole matter, now it has to be seen how this negligence of the municipality and forest department is improved.
