On the sensitive initiative of Village Industries Minister Guru Rudrakumar, Belmetal crafts will now become a means of livelihood for the Scheduled Caste people of Vananchal area. It is noteworthy that the Handicrafts Development Board of the Department of Village Industries is connecting the people with direct employment by organizing continuous training programs based on various craftsmanship in rural forest areas and providing them employment at home. In this episode, a 3-month training program has been organized by Handicrafts Development Board, Jagdalpur, District Bastar in Sidmud village under Jagdalpur development block. Vatti informed that a three-month training program has been organized under the departmental plan in Sidmud village under Jagdalpur development block. In this training program, 20 men and women belonging to the Scheduled Castes associated with Belmetal crafts are being identified and trained. In the three-month training program organized from 01 December 2021 to 28 February 2022, the trainees will be provided scholarship at the rate of Rs 1500 per month. State awardee trainer Shri Bhagatram Sori has been appointed as the trainer for this training programme. After the training, the bell metal craftsmanship of the trainees will improve and they will be able to prepare their products according to the current market and the demand of the people. This will provide them employment as well as good income. The General Manager of District Bastar informed that the craft products prepared by the craftsmen during the training would also be provided market by the Handicrafts Development Board.
