Minister of Commerce and Industry and in-charge of Bastar district, Mr. Kawasi Lakhma, today reviewed the development works being carried out in Bastar district. In the meeting held in the Prerna Room of the Collectorate, Minister Mr. Lakhma said that the intention of the State Government is to serve the people better and this work is possible only by better implementation of the schemes of the Government. He said that Chhattisgarh government is working with determination to provide basic facilities to the people along with health, nutrition, education, employment. He also directed to better monitor the implementation of these schemes. To overcome malnutrition, a scheme was started by the government to supply eggs to the children through Anganwadis. For egg supply, members of the women self-help groups of the area were encouraged to take up poultry, which is also showing positive results. Due to the promotion of poultry farming in the area, now its supply has been started in the security camps also. Along with poultry, he stressed on encouraging the villagers for goat rearing, pisciculture, animal husbandry, so that their economic condition improves rapidly. Industries Minister Shri Lakhma while reviewing the storage of seeds and fertilizers gave instructions to speed up the work. He said that farmers should not face any kind of problem for fertilizers and seeds. He also reviewed the works being done under Narva, Garua, Ghurva and Bari scheme and directed to promote the production and use of Vermicompost and Super Compost. He instructed to make payment of women members of self-help groups working for the manufacture of vermi compost and super compost without delay. Along with this, he also reviewed in detail other employment oriented works conducted in Gauthans. He directed to expedite the works of Jal Jeevan Mission besides ensuring continuous supply of drinking water during summer. He directed to complete all other approved works of Anganwadi and Fair Price Shop along with newly approved buildings within the time limit. Minister Shri Lakhma reviewed the collection of tendu leaves, purchase of forest produce at minimum support price. He also reviewed the procurement being done on Minimum Support Price of Ragi, Kodo-Kutki. He also stressed upon the farmers to encourage the cultivation of small cereal crops including Ragi, Kodo-Kutki.
