The process of depositing rice from the Central Pool quota by Chhattisgarh is going on at a fast pace. In compliance with the instructions of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the work of lifting of paddy from the procurement centers and collection centers by Food and Markfed has been completed. The work of custom milling and depositing rice in the central pool is going on on a war footing. This is the reason that so far 48.13 lakh metric tonnes of rice has been deposited in the central pool by the state of Chhattisgarh. Chhattisgarh is one of the leading states in the country in terms of depositing rice, in which more than two-thirds of its quota has been deposited. It is worth mentioning that this year Chhattisgarh has to give a total of 61.65 lakh metric tonnes of Arva rice in the central pool. To achieve this goal, a special strategy was prepared in the state, due to which paddy procurement on support price as well as lifting of paddy from procurement centers and custom milling work continued uninterruptedly. As a result, even before the onset of monsoon, almost 100% paddy has been lifted from all the 2484 procurement centers of the state. Custom milling work is being done fast. Due to which Chhattisgarh has come close to achieving its target in collecting rice this year. Secretary, Food Department, Mr. Topeshwar Verma informed that so far 97.93 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been lifted for custom milling in the state, which is almost 100% of 98 lakh metric tonnes of paddy purchased on support price. 48.13 lakh metric tonnes of rice has been deposited in the central pool, which includes 24.80 lakh metric tonnes in Food Corporation of India and 23.32 lakh metric tonnes in Civil Supplies Corporation.
