Historic Initiative Towards Promoting Zero Carbon Emission and Green Energy – Chief Minister

Chief Minister Hands Over Truck Key to Hydrogen Truck Driver After Signing It

Clean and Green Transport to Get a Boost in the Logistics Sector

Raipur, May 10, 2025/Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today flagged off the country’s first hydrogen fuel logistics truck from his residence in the capital. He handed over the key to the hydrogen truck driver after signing it and congratulated CSPGCL and Adani Natural Resources for this innovative initiative. He said that this initiative would be a revolutionary step towards moving Chhattisgarh and the country towards green energy.

The Chief Minister said that Chhattisgarh is continuously developing and a new dimension has been added to it today. India’s first hydrogen-fueled logistics truck is being launched in Chhattisgarh. He said that our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has a special focus on promoting green energy and this initiative is important in achieving his resolution to make India a zero-carbon emission country by the year 2070. This step will also be helpful in balancing environmental protection and industrial development. Shri Sai said that Chhattisgarh is a state rich in mineral resources and the use of this truck in mineral transportation will reduce carbon emissions. He said that along with traditional resources, green technology and innovation are also being given priority in the state. Shri Sai said that development and environmental protection are possible together and such initiatives will further strengthen our resolve.
On this occasion, Dr. Vinay Prakash, CEO of Natural Resources, Adani Enterprises, also shared his views and described this initiative as a milestone for sustainable development in the mining sector. Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Seed Development Corporation Shri Chandrahas Chandrakar, Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited Shri Sanjeev Katiyar, and representatives of Adani Group were present in the program.

Use of Hydrogen Fuel Will Promote Green Energy

Hydrogen is an abundantly found element and the most special thing is that it does not produce any kind of harmful emissions. Vehicles running on hydrogen fuel cells have the same range and load lifting capacity as diesel trucks. But instead of smoke, they only emit water vapor and hot air and also make very little noise. Since most machines in the mining sector mainly run on diesel, adopting clean fuels will help in reducing pollution and noise. Along with this, this step will also help in reducing India’s dependence on crude oil and reducing its carbon footprint. A special thing is that Adani Natural Resources is the first company in Asia to adopt ‘Dozer Push Semi-Autonomous Technology’, which is promoting both safety and stability.

Notably, this truck has been prepared through Indian and international technical partnerships and hydrogen will be used as fuel in it. Under this, hydrogen fuel cell battery-powered trucks are being developed for transporting goods. Each truck will be equipped with smart technology and three hydrogen tanks, which will have the capacity to carry up to 40 tonnes of goods up to a distance of 200 kilometers. With the aim of securing a green future in the state, Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited and Adani Natural Resources have made this joint effort. It will be used by Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited to transport coal from Gare Pelma-3 Coal Block in Raigarh district to the state’s power generation unit.
