Chhattisgarh’s Urban Administration Minister Dr. Shivkumar Dahria has said that cleanliness has been linked with employment in Chhattisgarh. This has succeeded in making the cities of Chhattisgarh clean. Dr. Dahria was addressing the concluding session of the Social Enterprises for Garbage Free City National Conclave organized at a private hotel in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, here today. Delegates from 20 states of the country participated in the National Conclave organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India. Addressing the program, Minister Dr. Dahria said that when we started the cleanliness model, the work in the field of cleanliness was being done very slowly in the state. It has been our endeavor to carry forward the old tradition of cleanliness of the state by keeping it alive. For this we added cleanliness to Narva Garva Ghurva Bari. We insisted on banning single use plastic. We did not even have the use of plastic in the old tradition, only both the leaves work. We resumed the tradition there. Now people are aware that they themselves refuse to take plastic. Worked on the basis of 6R policy Rethink, Reuse, Recycle, Repair, Reduce, Refuge, which resulted in reducing the amount of new waste generation. People gave their full cooperation to build community and public toilets in the settlements. Build sludge treatment plant for human sewage management where sewer water is treated. He said that behind the success of the state, there are more than 10 thousand cleanliness didis. We not only encouraged the didis, but the didis went a step ahead and encouraged every citizen of the state for cleanliness. The basic mantra of success of Chhattisgarh model of cleanliness has been to link waste processing with livelihood. According to the Vedic principle, in the first episode of the formula of Artha, Dharma, Kama, Moksha, the government is playing its religion to strengthen the circular economy by connecting poor women with Artha and also playing a Dharma Didi. To make people aware, our didis have done door-to-door training to segregate wet and dry waste and have played their role diligently in making cleanliness a habit among the people. Dr. Dahria said that the toll free number 1100 has been given to the common citizens for disposal of sanitation related complaints within 24 hours. All public and community toilets have been linked to Google so that people can search their nearby toilets on the phone itself. By collecting dry and wet waste from door to door, processing plants in all the cities of the state, we have done innovative work towards making a garbage free city by processing 100% waste. Along with this, gardens and greenery have been developed there by eliminating the open dump site of more than 150 wastes. All the urban bodies in the state treat septic tank water. Due to this our Chhattisgarh has become the cleanest state in the country as well as the first ODF plus plus state. In this way, the cleanliness model of Chhattisgarh, which works in the traditional way of Narva, Garwa, Ghurva, Bari, has now become the most famous model of the country. Now people talk of Chhattisgarh model instead of Gujarat model, which is a matter of pride for the people of Chhattisgarh. Thus, due to all these efforts, we have become the cleanest state of the country for 3 consecutive times. Both cleanliness and income have increased due to Godhan Nyay Yojana. The use of organic manure has increased in the state. This has also seen an increase in the fertile potential of the state’s land. Out of about 5 lakh quintals of compost produced in the cities, about 2 lakh quintals of compost has been sold and an income of about Rs 11 crore has been received from the sale of manure. While addressing the program, Mayor of Raipur Municipal Corporation, Mr. Ejaz Dhebar said that with the cooperation and guidance of Chhattisgarh government, we are working continuously to make Raipur city the best clean city in the country. He said that Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Urban Administration Minister Dr. Shivkumar Dahria are constantly motivating us. He gave detailed information about the cleanliness works in Raipur and felicitated the participants from different states of the country.
