Cooperative Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam inaugurated paddy procurement this morning in Kumhari, the agriculture cooperative society of Dharsiwa development block of Raipur district. He conveyed his best wishes to the farmers and the people of the state for the grand campaign for procurement of paddy starting from today. Along with this, Minister Dr. Tekam also performed Bhoomi Pujan of the new high school building to be constructed at a cost of Rs.75 lakhs in Kumhari itself. The Cooperation Minister inaugurated paddy procurement by offering prayers at the paddy procurement center. He weighed the paddy of the farmers selling paddy in the paddy procurement center and also tested the quality. The farmer of the area, Mr. Gudda Shukla, reached the paddy procurement center first with paddy. Minister Dr. Tekam also took stock of the arrangements for paddy procurement here and gave necessary instructions to the officials. He said that farmers should not face any problem in selling paddy. Farmers should have all the necessary facilities at the centre. Minister Dr. Tekam said that 2497 procurement centers have been set up for the purchase of paddy on support price in the state. This year, normal paddy will be purchased from farmers at Rs 2040 per quintal and grade-A paddy at Rs 2060. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the economic condition of the farmers has been strengthened due to the farmer friendly schemes in the state. Farmers moving away from the fields have returned to the fields and the status of farming has also increased. More than one lakh 67 thousand new farmers have registered in the Integrated Farmer Portal in the state to sell paddy on support price. A total of 25 lakh 72 thousand farmers have registered for selling paddy this year. On this occasion, MLA Smt.
