Dhamtari district has achieved 100 percent success in the case of blindness caused by cataract in both the eyes in compliance with the instructions of the state government. All the identified patients surveyed have been successfully operated in the district hospital. Now they are able to see things with their own eyes. In this regard, it was told that from April 2022, a survey of patients with cataract in both eyes was done, in which 223 patients were found, all of them have been operated. It was told that due to cataract in both eyes, the patient Objects more than three meters away are not visible. This is a kind of blindness condition due to which patients have to face a lot of problems. Keeping this in view, the state government directed to conduct a survey of patients affected by cataract in both the eyes, so that they can see in at least one eye and lead a normal life. In compliance of the above instruction, 223 patients were identified from the month of April last year till now, who were operated successfully. Nodal Officer of Blindness Control Program Dr. J.S. Khalsa said that Cataract is an age-related disease due to which the vision of the patient’s eyes decreases and appears blurred. He told that it is treatable, which can be cured with a 10-15 minute operation. As per the instructions of Collector Mr. Rituraj Raghuvanshi, Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. S.K. Under the guidance of the Board, an intensive survey was conducted in the villages and cities of the district and all the 223 identified patients were operated upon. Cataract patients from both the eyes are able to regain their eyesight today and are living like normal people. The nodal officer of the blindness control program also informed that in the same sequence, three thousand 350 cataract patients were successfully operated in the district hospital from April 2022 till now. Successful eye operations of five thousand patients have been done in the last one year from the operations done so far in the district hospital as well as private health institutions.
