The district level two-day sports competitions of Chhattisgarhia Olympics-2022 started this morning at the local Eklavya Sports Complex, in which 1214 players from all the four development blocks took part and displayed their traditional sporting talents. On its first day today, players in the age group of 18 to 40 years and above 40 are being made to compete on the traditional sports of the state, Kabaddi, Tug of War, Billas, Sankhali, Gilli-Danda, Fugdi, Banti, Bhanvra and Pitthul. While giving her best wishes to all the players, District Panchayat President Mrs. Kanti Sonwani, who was present as the chief guest on the occasion, said that the Chief Minister of the state, Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, has taken a new initiative to shape Chhattisgarhi thinking and traditions. Due to this, the dying rural sports have got revival. At the inauguration ceremony of the two-day sports competition at 11.00 am today, the District Panchayat President said that enthusiasm is visible from the villages to the city regarding this and people have got a better way to display their hidden skills. During this, the Chairman of the Chhattisgarh State Divyangjan Advisory Board Mr. Mohan Lalwani, Mayor Mr. Vijay Dewangan, along with the Vice President of the District Panchayat Mr. Nishu Chandrakar, members Mrs. Kavita Babar, Khublal Dhruv, President of District Panchayat Dhamtari, Mrs. Gunja were present on the stage as special guests. Sahu encouraged the players present in the field and wished them best of luck for representing in the state level games by displaying excellent sports. All the guests went to the ground and encouraged the players who came to perform Kabaddi, tug of war, gilli-danda, banti and bhanvra games. During this, the Chief Executive Officer of the District Panchayat and the Nodal Officer of the Competition, Smt. Priyanka Mahobia said that under the Chhattisgarhia Olympics-2022, 1214 registered players from the development block Dhamtari, Nagari, Kurud, Magarlod and the urban body Dhamtari participated in the district level games, In which 230 players from development block Dhamtari, 246 from Magarlod, 260 from Kurud, 262 from Nagri and 216 players from urban bodies Dhamtari, Bhakhara, Kurud, Aamdi and Magarlod are included. Apart from this, around 1400 people including 55 match referees, 50 Red Cross volunteers and official staff participated. It is worth mentioning that in the Eklavya sports complex of Dr. Shobharam Dewangan Government Higher Secondary School, Dhamtari, block-wise and body-wise competition is being organized today among the players of traditional sports Kabaddi, Tug of War, Billas, Sankhali, Gilli-Danda, Fugdi, Banti, Bhanvra and Pithul. For which competition is being conducted by marking venues for different sports in the field. Prizes will be distributed to the winners of the events organized today in the evening itself. Similarly, on the concluding day, Tuesday 22 November, competitions for Kho-Kho, 100 meters race, cart race, lame race and long jump will be organized. On this occasion, Additional Collector Mr. Chandrakant Kaushik, Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Mr. Vinay Poyam, Deputy Collector and in-charge Sports Officer Mrs. Uma Raj, Assistant Nodal Officer Mr. Shailendra Gupta and officers and field staff of various departments were present.
