On the initiative of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the Ministry of Railways has issued an order to restore the operation of 6 important passenger trains passing through Chhattisgarh. Chhattisgarh Express, Samta Express and Secunderabad-Raipur-Secunderabad Express will continue to operate. It is worth mentioning here that Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel had spoken to the Union Railway Minister today regarding continuation of the above operations in view of the convenience of the passengers of the above mentioned important passenger trains passing through Chhattisgarh. It is noteworthy that the Principal Chief Operations Manager, South East Central Railway, Bilaspur had issued an order on 23 April 2022 to stop the operation of 23 express and local trains passing through Chhattisgarh for the next one month from 24 April 2022. Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel had raised strong objection to the said order issued by the Railways. On the instructions of the Chief Minister, the Additional Chief Secretary wrote a letter to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Railway Board urging them to continue the operation of trains passing through Chhattisgarh. The Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel today discussed with the Union Railway Minister the problems being faced by the passengers due to sudden suspension of trains for one month without any alternative arrangement. During discussion with the Railway Minister, the Chief Minister said that thousands of passengers of Chhattisgarh reach their destination every day by traveling by trains. Due to the closure of trains, there will be a lot of inconvenience to the passengers in the movement. Agreeing with Chief Minister Shri Baghel, the Union Railway Minister has announced 6 major passenger trains passing through the state of Chhattisgarh namely 18237/18238 Korba-Amritsar-Korba (Chhattisgarh Express), 12807/12808 Visakhapatnam-Nizamuddin-Visakhapatnam (Samta Express) and 12771. /12772 Secunderabad-Raipur-Secunderabad Express, has been issued late in the evening today.
