Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, farmer-friendly decisions of the state government are making a new record of buying paddy year after year. On the initiative of the Chief Minister, now farming has become a profitable business in Chhattisgarh, due to which the concerns of the farmers of the state have been removed. It is noteworthy that in the current Kharif marketing year 2021-22, a record purchase of about 98 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been done easily from 21.77 lakh farmers. About 20 thousand crore rupees have been paid to the farmers this year in lieu of paddy purchase. Keeping in mind the convenience of the farmers, the state government has increased the number of paddy procurement centers this year. This year paddy has been procured through a total of 2484 procurement centers along with 173 new paddy procurement centers. The farmers have appreciated the commendable initiatives and policies of the government for procurement of paddy. It is noteworthy that in the last year 2020-21, 92.02 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was procured from 20.53 lakh farmers at minimum support price through 2311 procurement centers. In the last year 2020-21, paddy was procured from farmers in 24.87 lakh hectares. Whereas in the year 2021-22, paddy was procured in 26.48 lakh hectares. In this way, 01 lakh 23 thousand 819 more farmers were benefitted this year as compared to last year and procurement was done smoothly in 01 lakh 61 thousand hectare more area. About 5.96 lakh metric tonnes more paddy was procured this year as compared to last year. Despite many challenges on the initiative of the Chief Minister, the State Government has also succeeded in arranging gunny bags. In the Kharif year 2021-22, much less than the requirement of Chhattisgarh, only 2 lakh 11 thousand 941 bundles of gunny bags were received from the Jute Commissioner. Similarly, in the last year 2020-21, only 01 lakh 9 thousand 696 bales were received. This year, due to the tireless efforts of Chhattisgarh Marketing Association and Food Directorate, 01 lakh 02 thousand 245 bales of additional jute gunny bags were received, due to which the purchase was done smoothly. On the initiative of the Chief Minister, this year along with the procurement of paddy, the off-take of paddy for custom milling was started with the commencement of procurement. The Chief Minister, while encouraging the rice millers, called upon the Central Government to fulfill the target of depositing 61.65 lakh metric tonnes of Arwa rice, as a result of which out of 97.98 lakh metric tonnes in the Kharif year 2021-22 as on 31 March. In the Kharif year 2021-22, as on March 31, 17.88 lakh metric tonnes of rice was deposited in Food Corporation of India and 15.85 lakh metric tonnes of rice in Civil Supplies Corporation. Whereas in the last year 2020-21, 8.49 lakh metric tonnes of rice was deposited in the Food Corporation of India and 15.67 lakh metric tonnes in the Civil Supplies Corporation as on March 31. Officials of the Food Department said here today that out of the total loan amount taken by the State Government for paddy procurement during Kharif year, more actual loan amount was paid in the month of March as compared to the previous year. 7104.42 crore loan amount has been paid in Kharif year 2021-22. Whereas in the last year 2020-21, 5443.63 crore loan amount was paid in the same period. Thus, an amount of Rs 1660.79 crore has been made for loan repayment this year as compared to the previous year. Officials said that in Kharif year 2021-22, an amount of Rs 5327.56 crore was received from Civil Supplies Corporation as on March 31, in the last year 2020-21 an amount of Rs 4336.31 crore was received during the same period. In this way, an amount of Rs 991.25 crore has been received more this year. Similarly, an amount of Rs 2078.55 crore has been received from Food Corporation of India in Kharif year 2021-22 as on March 31, whereas in the last year 2020-21 an amount of Rs 1425.65 crore was received in the same period, thus 652.9 this year. An excess amount of Rs.
