This year in the Kharif season, the production of farmers has been affected significantly due to frequent changing seasons. Farmers are complaining about less than five to six quintals of paddy production per acre. Farmers say that increasing cost of paddy production in agriculture sector is suffering day by day. Farmers’ paddy crop has been damaged due to red spider disease spread this year in other villages including Gram Panchayat Demar, Peeparchedi, Perewadih Kurmatrai, Usalapur, Bhanpuri Reinwaghan, adjoining Dhamtari town.
Deendayal Sahu of Puranwadih, Puranik Sahu, Lilaram Sahu of Peeparchhedi, Ganeshwar Sahu said that during the preparation of paddy saplings this year, paddy named Red Spider has affected the production of paddy in many fields. During the preparation of paddy earrings, the insects suck the paddy juice, due to which the paddy crop prepared in the fields is damaged.
Last year, where about 38 to 40 bags of paddy were produced in one acre, this year the production has been reduced to 32 to 33 bags. Bhanpuri farmer Pawan Sahu, Ravan farmer Shankar Sinha, Khoman Sinha, Khapri’s Ramsevak Sinha, Bhola Sinha said that every effort was made to prevent the disease, but it was not successful. There has been a loss due to this disease that occurred at the time of preparation of paddy crop.
