Under the chief hospitality of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, on the occasion of World Fisheries Day, a state-level fishermen’s conference will be organized at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium Raipur from 11.30 am on November 21. Agriculture and Water Resources Minister Shri Ravindra Choubey will preside over the program on this occasion. Fishermen’s conference will be attended by excellent fishermen, fishermen’s cooperative societies and members of fishermen’s groups from different regions of the state. Nishad, Chairman Mineral Development Board Mr. Girish Dewangan, Vice Chairman Fishermen Welfare Board Mr. Rajendra Dhiwar, Member District Panchayat Raipur Mr. Harishankar Nishad, Chairman Municipal Corporation Birgaon Mr. Kriparam Nishad, Mrs. Gayatri Kaivart, Sarvshri Suresh Kumar Dhiwar, Devvrat Aditya, Bhuvanlal Avasariya, Santosh Mallah, Mohan Lal Nishad, Members of the Fishermen Welfare Board Sarvshree Dinesh Futan, Devkumar Nishad, RN Nishad, Smt. Amrita Nishad, Prabhu Mallah, Vijay Dhivar will be special guests in the program. It is continuously moving towards new heights in the field of seed production. Despite being a landlocked state, the state ranks sixth in the country in this regard. So far, the state’s water area has been developed up to 1.96 lakh hectare by constructing 6843 hectare new ponds in the state. The state of Chhattisgarh ranks sixth in the country by producing 302 crore fish seed (standard fry) and 5.91 lakh metric tonnes of fish. Fish and fish seed are being exported from Chhattisgarh to other states. In the last 3 years, 3303 motor cycles cum ice boxes, 10 pick-up vehicles for transportation of live fish, and 03 air-conditioned vehicles have been made available to the fishermen of the state for marketing of fresh fish to the consumers. To technically empower the fishermen of the state, about 17 thousand fishermen of the state have been technically upgraded by training them every year under the education-training scheme of the department. By adopting innovative techniques like bio-flock, they are playing an important role in fisheries development in the state. So far, 4021 cages have been established in 19 reservoirs and 02 mines in the state. Similarly 06 R.A.S. And 165 biofloc units have been established, which are playing an important role in the cultivation and production of pangasius, monosex tilapia as well as other important fishes of endangered economic importance such as indigenous mongri, sindhi, pabda. Establishment of innovative fish seed hatcheries is being promoted to increase the availability of sufficient quality fish seed in the state. Establishment of fish feed plant is being encouraged to ensure easy availability of fish feed in the state. In the last years, 02 feed mills of high capacity and 04 feed mills of medium capacity have been established. To ensure economic security of fishermen’s families, 2.21 lakh fishermen of the state have been insured under the Group Accident Insurance Scheme. In case of accidental death of the insured fisherman, financial assistance of Rs. 5 lakh is provided to the nominated heir and in case of permanent disability, Rs. 2.50 lakh so that the family members do not have to face the problem of livelihood in the time of crisis. . Punaram Nishad Fisheries College has been established. New Fisheries Polytechnic College Rajpur has been established in development block Dhamdha district Durg. Brood bank and research unit is being established in village Akoli district Bemetara for research, training and development of advanced species of fishes in the state. By giving the status of agriculture to fisheries work in Chhattisgarh, a big relief has been given to the beekeepers and fish producers of the state. Due to which fishermen are also getting electricity rate, irrigation rate and institutional loan assistance at a lower rate, similar to agriculture, due to which the cost of production has come down.
