Chhattisgarh is a power surplus state. About 2 thousand 978 MW electricity is being generated here. Apart from supplying electricity to the Central Bridge from here, it is also being supplied to other states of the country. Being a power surplus state, it has a favorable environment for industries. Chhattisgarh is at the leading position in the power generation of the country due to thermal power plants and increasing power infrastructure. Along with domestic consumers and farmers in Chhattisgarh, industrial establishments are also being given the benefit of cheap electricity. According to the capacity of the pump, 6 thousand to 7 thousand units of electricity is being given to the farmers at a concessional rate for irrigation of fields. Apart from this, flat rate facility is also being given to the farmers. Full electricity is being provided free of cost to farmers belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. So far, 6.26 lakh farmers have been given a rebate of Rs 10 thousand 400 crore in electricity consumption on irrigation pumps. People are troubled by the expensive electricity in other states of the country. On the other hand, people are happy with the cheap electricity in Chhattisgarh. The Chief Minister believes that the production of electricity is more in Chhattisgarh, so the people here should get its benefit. Due to availability of cheap electricity in Chhattisgarh, there is a rapid change in the living conditions of the people. The number of electrical appliances in homes is increasing rapidly. About 42 lakh domestic consumers of the state are getting the benefit of the Half Electricity Bill Scheme, implemented from March 01, 2019. The amount saved in the electricity bill is being used for other essential needs in the family. So far, domestic consumers have been given relief of Rs 3236 crore in electricity bills. Electricity is being supplied to the families living below the poverty line through single light connections. 16.82 lakh families using 30 units monthly electricity are getting its benefits. In this scheme, a rebate of Rs 1973 crore has been given on electricity consumption. Establishment of new power sub-stations and extension of power lines is being done under the Chief Minister’s Electricity Infrastructure Development Scheme. Rs 817 crore has been approved for these works. In the last four years, along with the establishment of 59 new 33/11 KV substations, 173 km 33 KV and 276 km 11 KV power lines were extended. Under the Mukhyamantri Urban Electrification Scheme in Municipal Corporation areas, Rs 172 crore has been approved in four years for expansion of power lines and infrastructure works, due to which 2617 works have been completed so far. Under Mukhyamantri Majra-Tola Electrification Scheme, 4593 works were done at a cost of Rs 238 crore. In order to get the steel industries out of recession during the Corona period, the state government gave relief in energy charges. In the notified tariff from April 2019, concession of 80 paise per unit on energy charges was given to steel industries. Under which a concession of Rs 418 crore was given to 413 industries till the month of March in the year 2019. For the expansion of power transmission in the state, the work of construction of 36 very high pressure was completed. Along with this, 400 KV substation at Kurud, 220 KV at Jagdalpur, Narayanpur and Bilaspur (Dhardehi) and 132 KV at Bijapur, Udaipur, Khairagarh, Kharmora and Indamara have been energized. Establishment of new power plant A new 1320 MW super critical thermal power project will be established in the state at a cost of Rs 12 thousand 915 crore. Two super critical thermal power units of 660 MW each will be set up on the vacant land available at Hasdeo Thermal Power Station, Darri (Korba West). Along with this, work has been started on 7700 MW pumped storage technology based hydro power project. More Bijli-More app has been prepared for registering complaints of domestic electricity consumers. Through this app, along with information about domestic electricity consumption, application for new connection, complaint related to connection electricity bill, all the services of the Electricity Department can be availed. Apart from this, a centralized call center has also been set up for complaints about interruptions in power supply, so that complaints related to power supply can be redressed immediately.
