Strict vigil is being maintained in the border areas to prevent illegal transportation of paddy from other states during paddy procurement on support price going on in the state. Separate officers and employees have been deployed at the check posts in the border areas for checking of cargo. Today, 215 bags of paddy have been seized during the investigation in the state’s border district Korea. Collectors and district level officers are constantly monitoring the arrangements there by visiting the paddy procurement centres. Korea Collector today conducted a surprise inspection of Baikunthpur’s paddy procurement center Salba. Talking to the farmers who came to sell paddy, the collector took stock of the arrangements available at the procurement centre. The collector took information about the tokens issued from the committee manager and the purchases made so far. Meanwhile, the collector got the paddy sacks bought from the farmers there randomly weighed in front of him, in which excess weight came out in the weighing of some sacks. Giving strict warnings, the Collector gave instructions for immediate improvement and also made the farmers aware. The Collector gave strict instructions to the in-charge of the procurement center to buy paddy only from the farmers. Instructions were also given to keep an eye on middlemen and coaches. Instructed the officers to ensure regular physical verification of paddy stacking and gunny bags maintenance in procurement centres. The team of officers in Koriya district is keeping a strict vigil on illegal storage and transportation of paddy. In separate action, 215 bags of illegal paddy were seized by the team of SDM Baikunthpur today. Efforts were being made to consume non-standard paddy at Patna paddy procurement centre.
