Apex Bank Chairman Shri Baijnath Chandrakar took a meeting of Chief Executive Officers of District Co-operative Central Bank of the State at Apex Bank Headquarters, Nava Raipur today. He appreciated the cooperation of the officers-employees of the Cooperative Department for procurement of paddy on support price in the state. Shri Chandrakar also reviewed the status of offtake of paddy from the committees. He said that fast lifting is necessary to minimize the drying and loss of the procured paddy. The officers of the cooperative department were instructed to expedite the lifting of paddy from the societies in coordination with the officials of Markfed. 22.71 lakh metric tonnes of paddy is yet to be lifted in cooperative societies. The meeting also reviewed the purchase of paddy through short-term agricultural loans and linking. Shri Baijnath Chandrakar said that the system of providing short-term agricultural loans at zero percent interest to farmers through cooperatives is necessary for the prosperity of agriculture. He exhorted the officers and employees to work diligently for the smooth operation of this system. The Chief Executive Officers of the District Co-operative Central Bank were directed to try to reduce the burden of taxes in cooperative banks and do physical verification of fertilizer stock in the godown of the societies on 28 February 2022 with the fertilizer quantity shown in the loop machine. It was informed in the meeting that against the target of 600 crores in Rabi season 2021-22, agricultural loan distribution of 488 crores has been done to 2 lakh 5 thousand 767 farmers so far.
