Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain took a meeting through video conferencing in relation to preparing an action plan for the arrangement of foodgrains storage and transportation of food grains in the Kharif marketing year 2021-22. The Chief Secretary has given instructions to mill the paddy with full milling capacity of the mills contracted for custom milling and reach the designated rake point of FCI. He has said that in the coming days, it should be ensured to deposit 15 thousand metric tonnes of rice daily in the FCI godowns. Instructions have been given to the state level nodal officer to ensure the availability of rakes for the transportation of rice to FCI in the month of January also. Shri Jain has also suggested the use of similar unloaded and returned CONCOR (Container Corporation of India Limited) containers in addition to the rakes provided by Railways for transportation of rice. He has asked to earmark additional rake points for railways around the identified districts to transport more quantity of rice. Shri Jain has given instructions to the departmental officers to fix district wise target for depositing rice in non and FCI on a daily basis and ensure action by the districts accordingly. He has asked to take special care of the quality of rice. In the meeting, the officials told that adequate rakes are being provided by the Railways for the transportation of rice in the Food Corporation of India. So far, a total of one lakh 97 thousand 604 metric tonnes of rice has been deposited in FCI and 92 thousand 683 metric tonnes in non. In the coming days, the speed of collecting rice will be accelerated.
