A two-year-old boy was running towards the house, when the car hit him, due to which one of his legs was amputated. Pawan, who lives in Udaipur block of Surajpur district, is now 6 years old. He walks with the help of one leg. There are many apprehensions and worries about his future in the minds of the family members. But the rehabilitation center at Mana Camp in the capital has allayed their worries. After coming here, seeing Pawan walking and running with the help of fake feet, now a new hope has arisen in his mind. Pawan’s grandfather Shri Kohit Ram told that Pawan could not even play with children of his own age. Ever since he got a fake leg in the rehabilitation center, he happily tries to run. He said that he was very worried about Pawan’s future, but after seeing him walk, he has come to satisfaction about his life. Like little Pawan, many lives of every age and class have been rehabilitated in the camp run by the Social Welfare Department. The center ‘Physical Referral Rehabilitation Center’ has given new hope, and their life is moving forward rapidly. Here the handicapped are provided artificial limbs, calipers, accessories, custom wheel chair, crutches, elbow crutch, spinal brace, CP. Physiotherapy and speech therapy are being provided along with making chairs free of cost. The Center has so far facilitated the lives of many differently-abled people by providing more than 4,000 devices. In order to give new direction to the life of the differently-abled and to support them with their hands and feet, the Social Welfare Department has organized their lives in far-flung areas. Marking work has started. It was started by organizing a camp in the remote area of Sarguja in October last. Here 140 differently abled beneficiaries were identified by experts. Among these were patients with different disabilities of the hands and feet. Now by providing them 155 artificial devices free of cost, efforts are being made to bring them into motion again. For this, measurements are being taken by bringing PRRC center to prepare fake feet of 65 beneficiaries out of 140 Divyangjan. When 14 Divyangs were fitted with artificial legs in the first batch, their happiness knew no bounds. The urge to live life again awakened in him. With the training and instructions of experts, he started walking step by step within a day. With the help of stick he goes to school. Now he is able to walk well due to the prosthesis. Now apart from school, he can travel anywhere without any hassle. Similarly, Shri Chhatrapal, a student of class VII, living in Narayanpur village, also had a broken leg since birth. Chhatrapal’s maternal grandfather Shri Tejram Yadav told that due to the loss of one leg of Chhatrapal, he finds it very difficult to walk. Now with the help of the government, his future has become because of his feet. Similarly, 50-year-old Jaikaran Singh, a resident of Sarganwa in Udaipur, told that in 2010, he had to amputate his leg in an accident. Since then he walks on crutches. Now they can do their work well due to fake feet. Mr. Ratan Singh of Lakhanpur told that he does farming work. He had to amputate his leg in an accident a few years back. When he got information about the camp being organized in the Janpad Panchayat of his area, he reached immediately. The team of Raipur took the measurement of his feet. Now the leg is fixed, and he is able to walk well. Similarly, Udaipur resident Shri Hiralal Devangan told that at the age of 8-10 years, his leg was amputated in the railway line. The Social Welfare Department has made a foot. Along with this, training has also been given, due to which they have started walking well. From transporting Divyangjan to Raipur, arrangements for their food and lodging were also made free of cost by the state government.
