Capacity development training program of hostel superintendents (wardens) of Eklavya Adarsh Residential School on ‘Efficient Management and Effective Operation of Hostels’ and ‘Psycho-Social Care of Students’ started from today at Thakur Pyarelal State Panchayat and Rural Development Institute, Nimora Raipur. This six-day training will run till June 13. This program has been mainly sponsored by the Tribal and Scheduled Castes Development Department, in which special support is being given by the experts of Manas Foundation and UNICEF. Expressing his views on the purpose of Eklavya Adarsh Residential School and commitment to governance, Additional Director of Tribal Department Shri Sanjay Gaur emphasized on efficient management of hostels and development of good infrastructure. He stressed on proper maintenance of all the nasties in the hostel premises so that all the work can be done at the right time as per rules. Shri Gaur said that the hostel superintendents should complete their work with complete honesty and conscientiousness among the children at the workplace, so that no untoward situation should arise. Addressing the workshop, the Principal of Navodaya Vidyalaya Mana Raipur, Shri U.P. Pani expressed his views on the subject of hostel food maintenance and record keeping and the role of hostel superintendents (wardens) in the academic development of hostel students and practical problems and solutions. He stressed on inculcating confidence in the hostel children and a sense of trust towards the hostel superintendent, so that the children can openly put their problems in front of the superintendent. Pragyan Seth, Deputy Commissioner, Tribal Department said that each child has different qualities, so the focus should be on them according to their interest. Some child is proficient in studies, some in sports, so they need to be given attention accordingly, so that their overall development is possible. Dr. Arpana Deshpande, nutritionist of UNICEF in Chhattisgarh, expressed her views in detail on how to use locally available nutritious food items in the food menu of tribal hostels. He stressed upon the hostel superintendents on nutritious food and regular health check-up of the hostel children.
