Raipur. A meeting of electoral roll observers was held for the elections of civic and panchayat elections. State Election Commissioner Ajay Singh said that the correctness of the voter list for fair and transparent elections is the basis of transparency and fairness of the elections and directed to prepare the voter list within the stipulated time limit.
Chhattisgarh State Election Commissioner Ajay Singh said in the briefing of electoral roll observers for the local body elections that the correctness of the voter list is the basis of transparency and fairness of the election. He said that the State Election Commission has organized a special briefing today to make the electoral roll pure and error-free, the main objective of which is to remove possible errors in the roll and to register the names of all eligible voters in the list so that the election can be conducted in a fair and transparent manner. In the briefing, the electoral observers were given detailed information about their important role in the election process. The observers were instructed to exercise utmost vigilance in the process of checking and correcting the voter list. It should be ensured that no name is repeated in the list, the names of dead persons should be removed, and the names of new eligible voters should be added. The Commission clearly directed that the name of the voter who has completed 18 years of age as on 1 January 2024 should be added to the list and it should be widely publicized at the district level. Commission Secretary Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure said that in case of any problem at the district level, the State Election Commission can be contacted for solution. The instructions and prescribed procedure issued by the Commission should be followed 100% and special care should be taken to ensure that no dispute or controversy arises. He said that the responsibility given by the Commission should be followed seriously. State Election Commission Deputy Secretary Dr Neha Kapoor and Alok Srivastava were present on this occasion.
