The Food Minister of Chhattisgarh, Shri Amarjit Bhagat attended the National Meeting of Food Ministers organized on the topic of smooth functioning of ‘Community Kitchen’ in New Delhi today. During this, Minister Shri Bhagat gave detailed information regarding the Chhattisgarh Public Distribution System, the operation system of fair price shops. On this occasion, he gave many useful suggestions regarding the smooth operation of ‘Community Kitchen’ for arranging food for the poor, helpless and needy people. Shri Bhagat also informed the Union Minister Shri Goyal about the concept of Model PDS in Chhattisgarh. Shri Bhagat informed that in relation to making the fair price shops operated under the PDS system in Chhattisgarh more useful for the general public, he gave information about its model form. He said that by ensuring that all essential items for the kitchen are sold and stored under one roof through fair price shops, consumers will be facilitated and they will be able to get their daily use items at subsidized rates. . Union Food Minister Shri Piyush Goyal presided over the meeting of Food Ministers of all the states of the country. The Minister Shri Bhagat told the Union Food Minister that for the purchase of paddy in Kharif Marketing Year 2021-22, Chhattisgarh was given 2.14 lakh bales of jute bags by the Government of India. Consent has been given, out of which only 1.31 lakh bales of gunny bags have been supplied so far. It is estimated that one crore five lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been procured in Chhattisgarh this year, against which 37 lakh metric tonnes more paddy has been procured till December 21 in the state. He urged to make available the remaining 83 thousand bales of gunny bags to Chhattisgarh before December 31, through the Jute Commissioner, in order to smoothly operate the system of procurement of paddy on support price in the state. Shri Bhagat informed that many varieties of rice in the state of Chhattisgarh are not suitable for Arva milling. There are 416 Usna mills operating in the state, whose milling capacity is essential for the disposal of paddy. A proposal to procure 23 lakh tonnes of Usna rice by the Food Corporation of India in the Kharif marketing year 2021-22 has been sent by the Government of Chhattisgarh to the Government of India. He requested the Union Minister Mr. Goyal to take that rice from Chhattisgarh state. There is a possibility of problems arising in custom milling of paddy and depositing rice in the Food Corporation of India. Rice is being taken in new jute bags by the Food Corporation of India. Keeping in mind the paucity of new jute gunny bags, he asked the Union Minister HDPE.
