Chhattisgarh’s largest running community, Let’s Run, organized every year on the lines of ‘The Great Chhattisgarh Run’ in Naya Raipur with more than three thousand runners. This is the seventh edition of the annual marathon organized under Let’s Run. Like every year, in addition to organizing six km, ten km, 21 km marathon, 42 km full marathon was organized for the first time in Central India and Chhattisgarh. This marathon was organized in Naya Raipur and huge crowd participated in it. Let’s Run is not a professional but a group of runners from different parts of the running society who like to run and keep themselves physically fit. In this group, people from every section of Raipur and of different ages are also associated, who organize three to four big and small such events in a year. The Great Chhattisgarh Run, every year showcases a specialty of Chhattisgarh in its annual event, this time the art of tattooing prevalent among the women of the Baiga community was brought to the attention of the runners in the marathon. Marathon organizer Dr Vinay Tiwari told that according to popular belief, tattooing is the jewel of a Baiga woman who stays with her till death and running is also a similar feeling for runners. It is designed for all types of runners in the marathon, whether they run for their own pleasure or professionally. Runners from other states also participated to participate in this event. Rotary Club of Raipur Royal also showed its full participation in this event and boosted the morale of all the runners. Coordinator Mr. Sunil Aggarwal thanked the Government of Chhattisgarh for his contribution, especially Chhattisgarh Tourism Board, Chhattisgarh Electricity Department, Raipur Municipal Corporation, Naya Raipur Development Authority, Collector Mr. Sarveshwar Bhure, Corporation head Mr. Mayank Chaturvedi, Head of Handicraft Board Mr. Thanked the people including Arun Prasad, RERA chief Shri Vivek Dhand ji. Apart from this, Sree Narayana Hospital and many prominent business establishments also contributed in making the marathon a success. Here are the winners – Marathon winners are 42 kms like this: Suresh Kumar Sahu I, Yogendra Kumar II and Kishanlal Kosaria III. 21 Km (Age 16-50 Years Category) Yudishthira Sahu I, Ishwar Prasad Sinha II and Dinesh Kumar Raut III, 21 Km (Age 50+ Years Category) Gorachandra Mohapatra I, Bhupendra Kumar Hardel II and Ghanshyam Lal Sahu III , Gulzari Lal Chandra, winner of Men’s (50+) in 10 kms, Vijendra Kumar (age 16-50) and Geetanjali Sahu in Women’s category. Rs 3.2 lakh was given as prize money for the winners in the event. The race is certified by the Association of International Marathon and Distance Races (AIMS) and the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).
