Amid allegations by the BJP in Chhattisgarh that the ruling Congress has failed to keep up its prime poll promise of waiving off bank loans of farmers, the former minister and veteran BJP leader Nankiram Kanwar claimed on Sunday that his farming loan up to Rs 70,000 has been written off by the new Congress regime.
The statement by the sitting legislator Kanwar, a credible tribal face of the BJP in the state, has put the saffron party in huge embarrassment.
The BJP in Chhattisgarh is facing a sense of discontent after it suffered a massive surprise defeat in assembly polls held in November last year in which party bagged just 15 out of the total 90 seats.
The BJP was also preparing to launch a drive against the Congress regime in Chhattisgarh for Rs being selective’ in waiving off bank loan of farmers but the statement by a seasoned BJP leader Kanwar had put the party on backfoot.
BJP leaders are stating that the Congress has not kept up the promise of loan waiver by inclusion of the farmers having taken agricultural loan from other banks apart from rural and cooperative banks.
