An IED blast in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, orchestrated by Naxals, resulted in the death of ASP Akash Rao Giripunje and injuries to several police personnel. The incident occurred near the village of Dondra on Monday morning. ASP Giripunje, who was the Additional Superintendent of Police (Konta Division), succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The police were patrolling the area in light of a bandh called by Naxals. The injured officers were taken to the Konta Hospital. Deputy CM Vijay Shamra expressed grief, calling Giripunje a brave officer. The incident underscores the challenges faced by security forces in the ongoing anti-Naxal operations. The search operation has been intensified in the area following the blast. This incident follows a pattern of attacks targeting security forces, posing significant hurdles to counter-insurgency efforts in the state. Security forces have been conducting operations against Naxals for months. The government has increased operations against the naxals and is committed to eradicating Naxalism.
