In Chhattisgarh, ongoing anti-Naxal operations have seen successes for security forces. However, in a recent incident in Sukma district, Naxalites carried out an IED blast. The attack resulted in the death of ASP Akash Rao Giripunje and injuries to multiple police personnel. The incident occurred near the village of Dondra, while the police were patrolling in light of a bandh called by the Naxalites. The injured were taken to the hospital in Konta. ASP Giripunje, who was on foot patrol to prevent any Naxal incidents, succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The state’s Deputy CM, Vijay Shamra, expressed sorrow over the incident, describing the officer as a brave soldier. Search operations have been intensified in the area following the blast. This incident is one in a series of attacks on security forces, and continues to pose challenges to anti-Naxal operations.
