The Chief Minister’s Special Health Assistance Scheme, run by the state government, is proving to be a boon for the needy patients suffering from serious diseases. Under this scheme, the state government is providing financial assistance up to Rs 20 lakh for the treatment of serious and rare diseases. Thousands of lives are getting new life due to this, including Smt. Sita Devi living in Tulsinagar ward of Korba city. Under the scheme, financial assistance of Rs 15 lakh was provided to Sita Devi, who was suffering from a serious disease of aplastic anemia. Sita Devi’s allogeneic bone marrow transplant was successfully performed as a result of assistance from the state government. Sita Devi is now completely fine and healthy after the transplant. Praising this life-giving scheme of the government, Shri Subhash Kumar, husband of Sita Devi, said that the Chief Minister’s Special Assistance Scheme has saved the life of his wife. A lot of money had been spent in the treatment of his wife who was suffering from illness for eight years, yet her health was not getting better. The doctors advised bone marrow transplant as the last hope. The cost of treatment was estimated to be around Rs.15-20 lakhs. Subhash Kumar told that the Chief Minister’s Special Assistance Scheme for the treatment of his wife who has reached a critical condition again gave hope. Showing sensitivity, the state government approved Rs 15 lakh for treatment within a week on his application. As a result, soon his wife’s bone marrow was transplanted successfully. Mr. Subhash Kumar told that his wife was suffering from weakness and dizziness since the year 2014. Physicians advised immediate admission stating the lack of platelets. He was admitted for 15 days in a private hospital in Bilaspur and got treatment but there was no improvement. Then on the advice of doctors, in the year 2016, he went to a private hospital in Tamil Nadu state for treatment. There the doctors did a detailed examination and told that Sita Devi is suffering from aplastic anemia. Doctors told that this disease can be cured by bone marrow transplant. It was estimated to cost around Rs 15-20 lakh for this. Subhash Kumar returned home without treatment due to his financial condition. Here the condition of Sita Devi continued to deteriorate. In the year 2018, he also got treatment in a private hospital in Nagpur, in which the remaining amount was also spent and there was no improvement in health. In the year 2020, when the condition of Sita Devi became very critical, DKS. On bringing the hospital to Raipur, he was told that the Chief Minister’s Special Health Assistance Scheme can help for treatment. Sita Devi was admitted to the Balco Medical Center in Raipur for treatment, in which Rs 15 lakh was provided under the Chief Minister’s Special Health Assistance Scheme. Sita Devi underwent allogeneic bone marrow transplant surgery in October 2021. Now Sita Devi has become completely healthy. It is worth mentioning that in order to provide better health facilities to the citizens of the state and to reduce the expenditure incurred in the treatment of complex and rare diseases, the Chief Minister’s Special Health Assistance Scheme has been started, under which The facility of treatment is provided up to a maximum of twenty lakh rupees. Chhattisgarh state is the first state which is providing such a huge amount for its citizens.
