Students of Prayas Residential School have performed brilliantly in the result of PET examination declared by the Professional Examination Board (Vyapam). Out of 317 children of Prayas who appeared in PET exam this year, 210 are likely to get admission in government engineering colleges as they have good rank. The biggest achievement in the results released this year was that Prayas Boy, Raipur student Himanshu Sahu has made the school as well as the Tribal Welfare Department proud by securing 10th position in the merit list. It is noteworthy that Himanshu Sahu’s family is of a very normal background. His father Mr. Hemant Kumar Sahu is working in the health department, while mother Mrs. Archana Sahu is a teacher in a private school. Himanshu attributes his success to the good academic environment of the school as well as to his teachers, under whose guidance he achieved such great success. Along with this, I have also expressed my heartfelt gratitude to the Tribal and Scheduled Castes Department, through which this ambitious scheme is being run. On this achievement of the students, Departmental Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam, Secretary Tribal Department Shri D.D. Singh and Commissioner Smt. Shammi Abidi extended their best wishes for their bright future. Excellent performance of students of Prayas Balak, Raipur The children of Prayas Balak Residential School, Raipur have performed brilliantly in the PET examination. All the 57 students who appeared in this examination are likely to be selected in the government engineering colleges of the state. Out of that, 45 students are likely to be admitted in the top three government engineering colleges of the state. With this, 12 students of Prayas Balak, Raipur have been successful in making it to the top 100. Among these, Sanjay Aachla and Surendra Kumar Dhruv have secured 5th and 12th rank respectively in ST category and Kaushal Tandia has secured 15th rank in SC category. Apart from this, out of 32 girls appearing in the examination of Prayas Girls Residential School, Raipur, 25 are likely to be admitted in government engineering colleges on the basis of rank. Similarly, 25 out of 33 from Prayas Bilaspur, 19 out of 61 of Prayas Durg, 32 out of 36 from Prayas Surguja, 25 out of 26 from Prayas Bastar, all 13 students of Prayas Kanker, 01 out of 10 from Prayas Korba and Prayas A total of 210 students, including 13 out of 49 students of Jashpur, are likely to get admission in government engineering colleges. It is noteworthy that Prayas residential students are selected in class 9th through state level entrance examination and there is a system of excellent education from class 9th to 12th. Its objective is to enable the students to enter the national level educational institutions of excellence. So far 97 students from these schools, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), 261 students from National Institute of Technology and 44 students have achieved special achievement by getting admission in MBBS course in medical colleges of the state. Apart from this, CA, CS, CMA. 29 students have been successful in getting admission in CLAT and 03 in CLAT. Also, so far 833 students have been successful in getting admission in various engineering colleges of the state. At present, 9 Prayas residential schools are being operated in the state, out of which 02 schools are being run in Raipur, one each in Durg, Bilaspur, Ambikapur, Korba, Jashpur, Kanker and Jagdalpur.
