There is an atmosphere of happiness in the villages of Chhattisgarh these days. Paddy procurement is going on from village to village. Money is also coming in the pockets of the farmers. The method of farming in the villages is changing. Even in remote forested areas, farmers can be seen driving tractors and using modern agricultural machinery. In fact, behind these changes are the farmer friendly policies and programs of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel. As soon as the government was formed, he waived the farmers’ loans and irrigation tax due for a long time, along with this he started an initiative to strengthen the rural economy. In the last four years, an amount of more than one lakh crore rupees has been put in the pockets of farmers, laborers and the poor. Its effect was seen in the industry and business world. While there was an economic slowdown in the country during the Corona crisis, it did not have any effect in Chhattisgarh. In Chhattisgarh, priority has been given to inclusive development, for this a new model of development was adopted in Chhattisgarh. Where justice schemes have been started for the development of all classes. The main focus in this model is on the rural economy. Paddy is cultivated in about 31 lakh hectares in the state. More than 2500 paddy purchase centers have been set up in the state to buy paddy at the support price. The entire system of paddy procurement has been computerized. Through this system, farmers are getting the amount of paddy purchase online. To facilitate the farmers in selling paddy, a mobile app ‘Token Tunhar Haath’ has also been made. Through this, tokens are issued for the purchase of paddy, due to which farmers are not facing difficulties in selling paddy. Grazing of animals in the open has been banned from the Gothan being built in the Suraji village scheme. At the same time, farmers are taking double crop with ease. Vermi compost is being prepared from cow dung under the Godhan Nyaya Yojana. This is increasing the income of farmers and animal herders. The Narva scheme is helping in maintaining the ground water level. The nutrition level is increasing with the Bari scheme. Smart Ghuruvas are being made under the Ghuruva scheme. Apart from this, about 300 rural industrial parks are being developed in Gothans. Due to this, the youth are getting self-employment opportunity. Understanding the condition of small and marginal farmers in the state and to strengthen the system of agriculture and farming, arrangements for input subsidy were made. Under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, farmers are being given an input subsidy of Rs 9,000. An input subsidy of Rs 10,000 is being given to farmers who take crops of horticulture, kodo-kutki etc. instead of paddy. This has increased the enthusiasm of the farmers towards farming. With the increase in the number of farmers, the area under cultivation is also increasing. With the Chhattisgarh model, agriculture is turning into a profitable business in the state. In this model, along with input subsidy, farmers are being provided electricity at a cheap rate and loan for farming at zero percent interest. Apart from this, the allied industries of agriculture are also being promoted in this model. Fisheries and lac production have been given the status of agriculture. Farmers engaged in fisheries and lac production are getting the same facilities as agriculture. Attention is also being paid towards climate change and increasing the income of farmers. Farmers are being given the benefit of solar dual pumps and small-marginal farmers are being given the benefits of community solar irrigation projects. Due to this, the farmers living in forest areas where electricity has not yet reached, are also getting the benefit of irrigation facilities. In order to increase the income of the farmers in the general area, solar dual pumps are being given on subsidy. Keeping in view the possibilities of horticulture crops in the state, farmers are being encouraged for horticulture farming. Farmers are being given grants for micro-irrigation, green houses, shade nets and mulching. Shakambhari Board has been formed to promote horticulture crops. Keeping in view the possibilities of employment of youth in the field of horticulture, new horticulture colleges are also being started in Patan along with horticulture university.
