During the recent excavation by the Department of Culture and Archeology, the remains of two and a half thousand years old human settlement have been found in village Rewa under Arang tehsil of Raipur district and Tarighat under Patan development block of Durg district. In addition, objects of archaeological importance have been found in the excavation, including jewellery, stone sculptures and silver and copper coins of the early historical period. Is. In this year (session 2021-22) a proposal was sent by the state government to the Archaeological Survey of India for excavation in Tarighat of Patan tehsil and Arang tehsil Rewa. After getting permission from the Archaeological Department of India, the excavation work is going on on the mound spread over a wide area near the Chandi temple located on the banks of Bandhwa pond in Rewa. Officials of the Chhattisgarh Culture and Archeology Department said that from the excavation, the remains of human settlements of about two to two and a half thousand years old from the early historical period are being found. As well as the terracotta and metal-made ornaments used by the people of that period such as beads, bangles, rings, terracotta figurines, stone idols of Ganesha and Lajja Devi, including northern Krishna Marjit pottery, silver hammered coins, gold coin of Kalachuri king Ratnadev, terracotta and Metal seals and coins etc. are being found, due to which the history of a little-known period of ancient Chhattisgarh is likely to come to light.
