Sanskrit Day is celebrated on the day of Shravan Purnima. Chhattisgarh Sanskrit Vidyamandalam organizes the week at the state level for 3 days before and 3 days after Rakshabandhan. Various anniversaries – Valmiki Jayanti, Kalidas Jayanti, Geeta Jayanti, Guru Purnima are organized. There is active participation of the schools of the state in the program organized on this occasion. On the day of Sanskrit Day, discussions and seminars are organized on the importance and worship of Vedas. Sanskrit is the oldest language of India embodied the whole of India. We can know the glorious past of the country only through Sanskrit. The word store of Sanskrit language is plentiful. It is a rich and prosperous language not only of India but of the world. The entire history of India is full of Sanskrit poetry. Today the knowledge of Sanskrit is very necessary for every Indian, especially for the future generation. The Sanskrit language has made an invaluable contribution in preserving the Indian heritage due to its unique scientificity. Sanskrit is such a unique language which is always unforgettable in Shruti and Smriti. Preserved-collected in ancient times, this rich texts of India has been preserved only because of Sanskrit. The whole world has accepted the importance of Sanskrit. It is necessary to make Sanskrit compulsory in Indian education. Regarding its imperative in education, in 1959, the Central Sanskrit Commission recommended the teaching of mother tongue and regional language along with making Sanskrit compulsory education in secondary schools. For starting Sanskrit school and Sanskrit college, 90 percent relaxation has also been provided by the government. Sanskrit is a sophisticated, cultured and scientific language. Since ancient times, specific subjects including Vedas, Ramayana, Mahabharata have been preserved in the Indian mind on the strength of Sanskrit. Vedas, Ramayana, Mahabharata etc., while keeping safe in Shruti and Smriti Paricharas, are being transmitted in written form today. There can be no greater proof than this. Sanskrit language has a scientific significance of its own. According to NASA scientists, Sanskrit is a complete scientific language. In ancient India, only Sanskrit was used in spoken language. This made the citizens more and more mentally balanced. There is a special effect on human health while reciting Sanskrit mantras. Vibration at the time of chanting awakens the body’s chakras and improves human health. Many foreign languages are also born from Sanskrit. Sanskrit lies at the core of French, English. The most important word ‘Om’ in Sanskrit is the voice of existence and the voice of inner consciousness and the universe. Sanskrit is the main criterion for discovering ancient heritage. In view of the importance of Sanskrit, Sanskrit is studied in more than 14 universities in Germany. Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel says that our Vedas, Puranas and Geeta etc. have been written in Sanskrit. We must not forget our roots. For the propagation of Sanskrit language, all possible cooperation is being given by the state government. Sanskrit education is progressing in Chhattisgarh due to the efforts of the state government. Sanskrit study incentive amount was given to the students of Uttar Madhyama School, first year class 11th studying in Sanskrit schools. From this, classes were given on 1st, 6th and 9th. Level wise financial assistance is provided to non-aided Sanskrit schools. From this year, financial assistance is being provided to non-aided schools by connecting each of their levels. 10 thousand per year for Praveshika Primary level, 20 thousand rupees per year for Pratham Middle level, 40 thousand rupees per year for Pre-Madhyama, First and North Madhyamik Pratham (High School and Higher Secondary). Sanskrit Pathshala is being run in Central Jail Raipur and for the last three years Sanskrit Pathshala is also being run in Ambikapur. After fifteen years, Sanskrit Uttar Madhyamik class was recognized by the Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education as equivalent to class 12th. For the protection of Indian heritage, under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, scientific subjects of Sanskrit like Ayurveda, Yoga, Pravachan, Vedas, Astrology are being studied and taught in Sanskrit Pathshalas. Students studying in Sanskrit Pathshalas of Chhattisgarh are getting integrated knowledge of modern subjects like maths, science, commerce etc. along with study of scriptures in Sanskrit. Students studying Sanskrit in the state are able to get higher education in any field. Sanskrit has a rich past in the state. Here Turturiya Maharishi Valmiki in Balodabazar and Ramgarh hills in Udaipur of Surguja district are considered to be the area of Mahakavi Kalidas. The state is associated with the religious rituals of Ramayana period and Mahabharata period. A large area here comes in the Dandakaranya region, which is said to be the area of the sages. The ethics, behavior and rites of the people of Chhattisgarh are enriched with Sanskrit. Eight government-aided schools operating in five districts of the state are assisted by the government.
