Dhamtari district has achieved a great achievement, embodying the concept of Chhattisgarh model of self-reliance. Here in the Kharif marketing year 2021-22, a saving of Rs 22 crore has been made in the expenditure on procurement of paddy on support price. The policy of providing the procured paddy directly to the millers from the committees was adopted in the district. This resulted in saving of human labor and time along with reduction in expenditure on transportation, drainage, cap cover, wages, drywall etc. It is noteworthy that under the able leadership and guidance of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the state has achieved many achievements in this Kharif marketing year. Due to proper strategy and action plan, where farmers were able to sell their paddy easily without any hassle, record purchases were also made. Dhamtari Collector Shri Padum Singh Elma has informed Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain through a letter that on the instructions of the State Government, systematic and speedy procurement arrangements were ensured for the procurement of paddy at the district level support price. Coordination of registered rice millers and procurement arrangement in-charge was done. Due to this, rice millers directly lifted paddy from 96 procurement centers of Dhamtari district. Out of total 1 lakh 17 thousand 361 registered farmers of the district, paddy was procured on each purchase day, giving priority to 64 percent marginal, 25 percent small and 11 percent long farmers. Due to which the paddy procurement work was not hindered and the paddy was lifted from all the committees without any delay in the time-limit fixed in March. Along with this, custom milling of the purchased paddy was also ensured. This year, a total of 4,31,397 metric tonnes of paddy procured in the district in a planned manner was given directly to the millers from the committees instead of being transported to the collection center. Due to this, 100% paddy was lifted within the stipulated time frame, due to which there was zero shortage in all the committees. Apart from this, by encouraging the millers of the district, 1,35,686 metric tonnes of paddy was directly lifted from the committees from other districts of Kanker, Balod, Gariaband, Bemetara, Rajnandgaon and Mahasamund.
